Superoblong, 1989

This sofa sits on the line of janky-basement-couch-you're-scared-to-sit-on and designer sofa that looks chic and classy - a real room elevator. It's the second. I think this couch needs a little negative space as it has in the drawing - that's how I would position it in a room. It's got that "cool" vibe being so used - like a banged up Birkin Bag - nothing speaks cool as much as expensive things trashed from good use. A "Superoblong" sofa by Jasper Morrisson for Capellini, Italy. The "Super" refers to the three seat sofa - as it's a modular design, the original had two seats and named "Oblong".Morrison was born in England in 1959, he's won a bunch of awards and continues to design today in London. He has been a Royal Designer for Industry since 2001.
