Health is Wealth

I love shiny things. I love the smell of newness out of the box. Call me materialistic, and you mightn’t be proved wrong. I used to collect shopping bags of brands I admired before I could afford to buy anything there. I would ask my friends of new things they bought if I could keep the swing tag to just add it to my collection, blue tacked to the wall, the tags and bags didn’t even have to be mine. “Branding, luxury, happiness” I would whisper to myself like a little freak whilst working at a burger joint for $8 an hour. Later, spending my earnings on a new wallet and then have no money to put inside it. But I got to leave a 5th Ave store with something inside a crisp, flawless shopping bag with the sof,t fresh ribbon handles. It’s on the outside that counts, no?

A gold money clip. What would that suggest of me? To wrap my money in gold? Pretentious sits at the tip of the tongue. 

I will also admit, at the time of drawing this, I bought the YSL money clip for this intention, for this drawing. I returned it after I got the shot and got my money back. Don’t we love the falsity of a branded facade?
