(2019) McGoldrick continues her love affair with the iconography of New York City in her drawing of the Greek coffee cup, more formally known as the “Anthora.” This was the first large-scale subject she drew, and you can see her focus here turn to used and worn pieces of history in her work. The relic is no longer a staple around the city after corporate coffee franchises opened on many corners throughout the late ‘90s, so McGoldrick worked with her local bodega to source it for this piece. The original drawing took 87 hours to complete, helping a piece of New York history live on through her hyperrealistic portrait.
